What do the support tiers mean?

A language's support tier is measured from what Words actually holds for it, not declared in advance. Six measures are taken — the number of recorded words, definitions, translations, word forms, examples and pronunciation — and the tier is the lowest one any measure reaches. A measure that has not been taken does not count as reached.

Full support — every measure meets its Full threshold: at least 25,000 recorded words covering 95% of a frequency reference, definitions on 90% of words, direct translations for 80% of senses, complete paradigms for 95% of inflecting words, examples for half the senses, and validated pronunciation for 90% of words.

Partial support — every measure meets at least its Partial threshold: at least 3,000 recorded words covering 70% of a frequency reference, definitions on half of them, translations for 30% of senses, paradigms for 60% of inflecting words, examples for a tenth of senses, and pronunciation for 40% of words. Gaps are marked, and entries say what is missing.

Experimental / limited support — at least one measure is below its Partial threshold or has not been measured. Entries are evidence to check rather than settled, and pronunciation audio is not offered.

Each language is listed with its measured tier and the number of source-backed words the development corpus holds for it. A word written for Words as a development fixture is shown as one, and is not counted.
